Proud to Wear Pink

A look at what Pink Zone means to the Lady Lions...

One of my favorite quotes is:

Be the change you wish to see in the world.

--Mohandas Gandhi

In light of those powerful words, the Pink Zone game gives myself, as well as my teammates, an opportunity to play for something much greater than ourselves.

How many times do you see commercials of people dying of starvation or the news talking about research in regards to cancer and get a feeling deep in your chest? ‘Many’ wouldn’t do anyone’s answer justice.

Therefore, knowing that I have the power to somewhat eliminate that sadness is extremely special. When I put on my pink jersey and run out into that arena, I am making a difference in the world. There is nothing more satisfying than that.

Cancer, no matter what type, is a terrible disease. Next to HIV it is probably the scariest disease out there. And the procedures to fight it, if not too late, make things even tougher.

Knowing that the proceeds from our game fund research that gets us one step closer to finding a cure is amazing. Words can never express how fortunate I feel to be a part of such a special event!
