Taco Mac…Tori Waldner….BTN

During the recruiting process Tori was a natural on the phone.  She was articulate, thoughtful and would always talk about a wide spectrum of topics.  I often heard her talk about the dune buggy her father made for her and her sister Anne, or about her volleyball team or how she was transforming her diet in preparation for college.  She also ALWAYS talked about going to Taco Mac to watch us play on the BTN!  More than once I thought, the best you can do is TacoMac Tori?  Really???

During our weekly conversations, I often asked Tori what the allure was to Taco Mac.  The conversation always turned when she said, 'oh coach, it's so good, you just need to go.' I asked Diane, Tori's mom as well.  Her response, 'oh Tori, they don't know about Taco Mac I guess.' Still no good explanation!

When I landed at ATL this morning, I went directly to Panera for breakfast.  What would you know...Panera was next to a Taco Mac! At 10am I knew exactly where I was going for dinner!  If you are like me and pictured a taco spot that resembled convenient store / gas station we were both wrong.

Taco Mac is a regular sports bar.  This particular one had many pieces of Atlanta Braves memorabilia hanging on the walls.  There were easily 25 flat screen tv's, with every possible game on.  It was a happening place, with people even willing to sit outside in the 97 degree heat.  Tori recommended a couple wraps, but I ended up going with the cobb salad, which was very good.

And yes, I did check...you can order a taco!
